Get Healthy Get Active

GHGA_Logo_BLUE279_StrapGet Healthy Get Active is a brand new Sefton Council programme aiming to get vulnerable adults more active. It is delivered through Active Sefton (Sports & Recreation Department) and is a joint venture with Edge Hill University. The programme is funded by Sport England and mixes practical sessions with vital research into the impact of exercise on targeted groups.

The three year programme focuses on adults with learning disabilities and those aged over 65 who are at risk of falls / early onset dementia through aiming to improve health, social isolation, increase independence and increasing mental wellbeing.GHGA_Logo_RED1797_Strap2L

There are to route onto this programme:-

Route 1:will be for specific organisations such as care homes, sheltered accommodation and older people forums whereby we will put on set 6 week blocks of activity chosen by the organisation to include either chair based, indoor bowls, Otago, Circuit, yoga, tai chi etc.

Route 2: will be based on self-referral for older adults who are inactive with early onset dementia and at risk of falls and will be offered 12 week subsidised sessions within the community to include either chair based, indoor bowls, Otago, Circuit, yoga, tai chi etc.
